Our partnership with the University of Worcester

Paul Bailey, owner of TrainerMaker has been partnered with the University of Worcester to deliver CIMSPA endorsed fitness industry qualifications since 2014. Over the 11 year relationship, delivery has evolved to become more flexible for students as well as offering even greater content and 'real world' experience. These qualifications are essential if you wish to work in the fitness industry!

Reduced costs and payment plans for all students

We also offer payment plans over 3, 6, 9 & 12 months to spread the cost over your academic year. There is no credit check and no interest charged. You pay a £200 deposit, then the balance is divided by the number of months you want to pay over. Payments are taken via a direct debit on the date specified by you when you enrol.

Venue

All course taught dates are delivered at the Riverside Campus gym.

Delivery Model 

All courses run at Worcester Uni include a combination of face to face delivery and full elearning. This means that the courses are flexible in time frames for completion and attendance. You can view a demo of the elearning here.

Gym Instructor course content and delivery/assessment method

Dates:

3.7 Nov 2025

The Gym Instructor course consists of 7 units:

  1. Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise

  2. Principles of Fitness Training

  3. Principles of Nutrition and Lifestyle

  4. Health and Safety in a Fitness Environment

  5. Professionalism and Customer Care

  6. Conducting Client Consultations

  7. Planning and Delivering Fitness Sessions

 

Taught element:

You will receive 5 taught days during which you will learn all practical elements of the course. We teach you the movement patterns of: Squat, Hinge, Press, Pull, Rotation and Anti-rotation. You will become proficient at all of the major freeweight lifts and will learn how to coach these, plus resistance machines and cardiovascular exercise to clients. Gym experience is useful - but not essential!

Assessments:

All assessments are online, completed in your own time, other than the practical observation which will be completed on the last of the taught days.

Course duration:

You have up to 12 months to complete your course. However, it is common for students to complete their Fitness Coach qualification in 2-3 months. All assessments should be completed within 6 months of each other or individual units may need to be reassessed.

Personal Trainer course content and delivery/assessment method

Dates:

6, 7, 13 feb & 3-7 Mar 2025 (Both)

The Personal Trainer course consists of 6 units:

  1. Applied Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Fitness

  2. Principles of Nutrition for Exercise and Health

  3. Understanding Lifestyle, Wellbeing and Common Medical Conditions

  4. Encouraging Positive Health and Fitness Behaviours

  5. Programme Design and Delivery for Personal Training

  6. Professionalism and Business Acumen for Personal Trainers

Assessments:

  1. All assessments are online other than a practical observation which will be completed on a 1:! basis during the summer term.

Course duration:

You have up to 12 months to complete your course. However, it is common for students to complete their Personal Trainer qualification in 3-6 months.
