ENGAGING CHILDREN IN SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Engaging Children course content and delivery/assessment method

The Engaging Children in Physical Activity course consists of 5 units:

  1. A basic understanding of safeguarding and protecting children and young people

  2. Principles of engaging children and young people in sport and physical activity

  3. Planning sport and physical activity for children and young people

  4. DElivering sport and physical activity for children and young people

 

Taught element (taught courses only)

You will receive 2 taught days during which you will learn all theoretical and practical elements of the course. We teach you games and activities for each age group covered within the qualification

Distance learning element:

You will receive learning resources including manuals or elearning (extra cost) that give you the knowledge that you need to back up your practical ability.

Assessments:

  1. Safeguarding knowledge questions

  2. Safeguarding case study

  3. Safeguarding witness testimony

  4. Report or presentation

  5. Planning worksheet, progressive programme, session plans, ground rules and screening documents

  6. On course and summative observation of practical teaching

Assessments will largely be completed post-taught days.

Course duration:

You have up to 12 months* to complete your course. However, it is common for students to complete their Engaging Children qualification in 6-9 months.

*elearning lasts 300 days after which time you must re-purchase. All assessments must be passed within 6 months of each other or reassessment of specific units will be required.
