EXERCISE REFERRAL (Now named; Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Participation in Physical Activity: Long Term Health Conditions)

Course content and delivery/assessment method

The Personal Trainer course consists of 6 units:

  1. Anatomy and Physiology: Long Term Health Conditions

  2. The Role of Physical Activity and Exercise in the Prevention and Management of Long-term Health Conditions

  3. Programming, Adapting and Delivering Exercise for Adults with Long-term Health Conditions

*If you have an equivalent Anatomy and Physiology unit and obtained it within the last three years Recognised Prior LEarning can be applied for for Unit 1.

​

Distance learning element:

You will receive learning resources including manuals or elearning (extra cost) that give you the knowledge that you need to work with clients with medical conditions

​

Assessments:

  1. Questions and answers on anatomy and physiology

  2. Long-term health conditions worksheet and professional discussion

  3. Applied case study worksheets, professional discussion and observed practical task

  4. Consultation and assessment

  5. Planning and programming

  6. Implementation and evaluation

  7. Showcase presentation

  8. Professional discussion

Course duration:

You have up to 12 months to complete your course. However, it is common for students to complete the qualification in 3-6 months.

To study this qualification, you must have completed your Gym Instructor course as a pre-requisite.
